TIamaneep Blue
Continued.......
Tiaman started to swim deeper, the water getting colder and causing her scales to darken. She stopped a moment to eat some kutiki, a crunchy sweet plant that grew between rocks. She knew she was getting close to Clauan's cave when she saw those red flowers that only grew close to where Clauan lived. They only grew close to her cave, as if her magic willed them to do so. Clauan, who was only 8 years older than Tiaman, and already had surpassed her older sister's in skill. Clauan's family was as powerful if not even more than Tiaman's family. Clauan's fin was almost as long as Tiaman's, and her skin was several shades of blue. Her fin was almost a gray color, and was frayed out at the tip so the end of her fin was like her hair, always moving and flowing. Clauan had silver eyes and hair, that she kept shorter so she could move around with ease. She had always teased Tiaman saying , "I don't know how you can see to swim with that mat of hair in your face." Tiaman smiled to think what Clauan would say now, for her hair had grown a few inches since they had last seen one another. She spotted the opening of the cave, bubbles coming up from a hole in the cave wall. The bubbles had a yellow glow about them, and Tiaman guessed that Clauan was brewing a creativity potion. She started to sing their favorite song, Deeper Than My Lover's Eyes. It always made them smile.
My lover's eyes are deep and blue, deep and blue.
Blue deeper than the ocean's depth.
Deep into the ocean blue, my lover eyes do keep
The color blue stays long after my lover swims away
Clauan swam out and they embraced, fins and arms wrapping around each other.
"Tiaman! You have been exploring near the surface again haven't you?" Tiaman laughed. " How did you guess? Could it be this new string of shells?" Clauan inspected the shells. " They are beautiful , but no. It's the glow all over your face. And that sparkle in your eyes." Tiaman nodded. "I still have yet to go to the top, but I keep getting closer. I have the most unusual dreams near the surface. That's why I came to visit you."
They locked arms and swam into the cave. " A dream potion then? I just made a fresh batch. It is very strong, it should give you plenty of insight." Clauan's cave had hundreds of potions floating near the ceiling of the cave, and shelfs on the walls were covered as well. Clauan's specialty was obviously brewing potions as well as a healer. She had already created several new recipes, including new love potions and dream potions, and had a good reputation among the people. If a young mermaid or merman became ill, she was the first choice as their healer. Tiaman could remember many times she herself had come to Clauan for help, and she was never unsatisfied. She felt proud of her friend and had only been inspired to gain knowledge and skills as well. Tiaman had a natural gift for seeing into the future, of others as well as herself, and she used this skill as much as she could. The future did not always make itself clear to her, sometimes it was more like a riddle that she or someone else had to solve. She knew that this was not her only skill. It was not her destiny to become a fortune teller. She felt something else, something bigger in her future. It seemed to her that she could see into others easier than she could see into herself. She was ever grateful for Clauan's potions. The dream potion would give her a vivid dream to make sense of this dream that was such a mystery. Clauan handed her a jar made of volcanic rock. " May your dream bring you the answer you seek" Clauan made a motion with her hands over the jar, uttering a spell and adding the finishing touch that made her potions so powerful. " Now shall we swim to Talan? We will be early if we leave now." They swam out of the cave and began their decent to Talan.
