I cant believe it did this...
So I have been unemployed since February of this year. Everywhere I apply to, they tell me that I need my Design Cert or I need more education. And every time I tell them that I will be taking the test for my Design Cert in the spring of 2010, and that I am in the process of starting my masters. (All of which I need money to do, so please hire me so I can pay to get this crap taken care of!)
But the bank account is starting to get low and I need to start working again. So I took a step in the direction I did not want to take... I applied to some retail jobs. Yep I went to the mall and asked around for applications. Filled them out and handed them in. I sooo wanted to get out of the retail sector. I have been designing retail stores for three years and have been working in retail for the past 10. I'm tired of it! I want to do something new. I dont want to sell crap that people don't want, but I have to bring home some cash. I think I feel bad about this because I applied for everything. From manager to casher. At one place I even applied for overnight stockroom.
Yet when I look at everything, it's kind of funny. Retail to me is like the adult film industry to others, it keeps dragging you back in weather you like it or not. Also the money is there, and depending what you do it can be great. I just hope that this is one of those times that you do what you have to do to get by. A time when later on no one will question or look down upon you for doing it. And hopefully no one asks in the future interview..."So I see here that you went form being an Interior Designer to being a cashier, Why?" Or if they do they understand why and have so compassion.
Any sorry to bitch, I just need to vent.
Also if you ahve some time there are a TON of lovly ladies that you need to check out in Member Review, and if you haven't check out my first set, Good Morning Coffee, while you are there.
Lastly, If you live in the Ne York Area, come out Sept. 13 to Central Park and join me as well as others for the annual Susan G. Komen's "Race for the Cure". We'll be deck out in pink for the race.

Well I really hope you get the kind of work you're looking for. I have worked more than my share of retail!
