Some facts

This is the worst natural disater this country has ever seen... there have been others of higher magnatude but none that centered on this kind of population center or displaced so many.

Yesterday they prefoemed over 3,000 helicopter evacs. From what I hear that is more then preformed in the fall of siagon.

Many of the people evacuated after the fact where stranded because they choose to be there, not because they where 'left behind.' People did not want to leave their homes and their blongings.
Flood control, repair and clean up are going to take awhile because the city is below the level of the Mississippi River and the river would prefer to use it as a path the the gulf over it's current one. A old, and fragile, system of leveys prevented the floodign of the citty under normal circumstances... a hurricane of this degree they had no hope

You wil probably hear alot about big dollar programs that could have helped with the problem... what they do not tel you is that they where 30 year programs that even if they had been implimented when first talked about 10 years ago they would have been little help.

Peopel have already begun to cry that support and troops where not put in place sooner. Do you suggest we had sent them there to get washed away with the rest of the people?

While the loss of life has been horrible it is NOTHING compared to what it could have been.

Has anyone noticed that there seem to be very few countries pledging help and support to us yet? so much for the global economy eh?

And can someoen please explain to me what is so bad about how Bush is dealign wiht it? And do it using a ratioal arguement and not just that 'he sucks.' I mean I am no fan either but...

Control or not, I don't want to get used to drinking alone, for fear of overdoing it on one of those depressed, lack-of-control sort of evenings.

Where a ragweed allergy is concerned, the following is probably not the kind of advice you were looking for, but it's interesting none the less:

"One remedy found to work for several suffering with runny nose and tearing eyes is Horseradish, a fast remedy. It works because it is known to contain glycosides that increase circulation and expand the sinus cavities. Horseradish, a minor natural antibiotic unlike prescription man-made antibiotics, is known to not only kill bacteria but also viruses.
The best horseradish dose that appears to work for the most people; eat 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of fresh grated horseradish, mixed with vinegar. Vinegar helps increase the absorption rate. You may also eat it sprinkled on foods such as salads, this is said to reduce the possibility of stomach irritation as well. It may be consumed up to four times a day. If horseradish is fresh it can make your eyes momentarily water."
