Yeah, so I totally have a new favorite movie.
I had been meaning to watch 'The Lost Weekend' for along time. Not only is it a heart wrenching love story that John Hiatt credits as the inspiration for one of my all time favorite songs 'All The Lilacs in Ohio' but it is about a hard core drunk.
I mean how can you go wrong with that?
Last night I finally got around to watching it and now I have to recommend this movie to anyone who drinks. There is a speech Ray Milland gives in a bar at the start explaining why he has to drink that every teetotaler should have to hear. His later decent into a raging bender and the drunk hospital is something every drunk who has been known to push it to far should have to see. I also enjoyed the 1940's take on alcoholism.
Oddly enough my Friday plans had included serious drunk behavior but along work week made me decide on a weekend of movies, reading and audio delights.
If only that nice relaxing start to my weekend could have continued... for the first time in months I was shaping up to have 2 complete days work free. In a way I guess that lasted but in another is didn't. My truck refused to start today, I had to be jumped and it didn't want to charge. Why is it stuff I own waits until it is eleventybillion degrees below to pull this shit? So much for a relaxing Saturday...
Several hours and 80 bucks later I have a new battery and hopefully the cure for my long time electrical issues with the Blazer. Of course the bad battery leaves the questions of why A)this one died in only a year and B)why only one of it's 2 batteries gave up the ghost...
Fortunately this did not completely derail my plans. I did manage to finish my latest read
and continue my old movie theme with another favorite.
Best. War. Movie. Evah!
Tonight is more relaxing for tomorrow, one of the few days I start to really care about sports... this year more then normal for some reason...

I normally don't care about the Superbowl at all but all of my co-workers have me going around, all like "Go Bears". It doesn't help that we were supposed to wear Bears gear today and one of our upper level store managers had us doing cheers on the salesfloor at 10:00 this morning. Hey, I mean, I'm originally from Michigan, we got the Lions, ya know?
