Sushi.
I like to go out for sushi, even though I actually only eat sashimi.
Last night, we went out for sushi.
We always go to the same place for sushi. The food is very good, the restaurant is very nice, they have Sappora (japanese beer), the waitresses dress in authentic kimono and obi, with the little socks and thong shoes, very authentic.
But the staff is laughably rude. (and we spend most of the evening laughing about it...)
Tonight we got there before the people that we were meeting, and when we walked in the hostess asked us how many were in our party to seat us. I replied "We're meeting someone and she's not here yet, so we'll just wait for her to be seated."
Her reply, "Do you have a reservation?"
I said "No." and she just said "Oh."
Now mind you, where we were we could not see the dining room, but we have never been there when it was anywhere near half full, so I wasn't too worried.
When we were seated the room was more than half empty.
My husband and I were seated first since our friends called and said they were running a little late.
Every time the waitress brought food to the table she said 'Enjoy!' in a way that made it sound like she didn't mean it at all.
I had asked for another beer just before she brought the soups and salads. She put the salad and soups down and ran away really quickly a moment later returning with my beer. I then said "Excuse me I believe that we were supposed to get three soups" (two of the meals came with soup and I ordered soup) and she acted all put-upon and exasperated and didn't apologize.
She brought out our food in three different shifts, mine arrived first and then she went to another table and took someone's order, after about five minutes she brought my husband's food without a word as to why there was a delay and then about three minutes later she brought the other two meals. (to make this even wierder, mine and my husband's were cooked food and the last two that she brought were the sushi meals which were sitting at the sushi bar waiting for her to pickup since before she brought my food) When she brought the sushi to the table one of my friends asked for another beer to which the waitress stared and said "another?".
When she came back with the beer I asked her if I could have some rice. "Rice????" she said as though I had asked for her left kidney. She forgot to bring me the rice until 20 minutes later when everyone was done eating and she came over to see if anyone wanted desert. THEN, she went to get my rice, once again served with no apology.
I'm thinking next time maybe we should sit at the sushi bar.
Before anyone asks, yes we tipped her well.(at least she was good for a laugh)
My night then got weirder when we went to a nearby bar for a drink and after sitting there for about fifteen minutes a bunch of thirtysomething women came in doing some kind of scavenger hunt. They yelled and ran around blowing up (and popping) balloons for about twenty minutes before leaving without a anyone in their party of 25 ordering a single drink. I felt bad for the bar staff.
After that I went home for a little while before heading out without my husband to the local pub to meet up with the friends that we had dinner with and a couple of others.
All was going well, for a couple fo hours until my ex and his best friend showed up and insisted on standing next to our table and talking to me for way too long. I had to go home to escape them and to save my poor friends from having to listen to the two of them all night.
And how was your Saturday night?
