journal of randomy randomness dedicated to the little things.
everyone should take a moment each day to think about the little things.
little things that make me happy...
-one of the university ladies coming by my office yesterday to make sure that i was ok, cause she saw me trip and fall on my way to the bus monday after work.
-watching a few episodes of 'america's most smartest model'. when i first turned it on and saw Andre i thought he was hot and beautiful, but after watching a few episodes, i don't even see him as hot anymore. it reminded me why i am not a sucker for looks except in random crushes that i expect to remain only crushes. to me beauty doesn't last if what comes out of your mouth is ugly. (and i do mean that it changes the way i see someone) the correlary applies also, which is why i find shane macgowan and charles bukowski beautiful.
-having more than one co-worker come and tell me that a compliment that i initially took as an insult was really meant to be a compliment.
-being instantly recognizable to people who work elsewhere in the company that have never met me because they have heard good things about me from others that have met me.
-having a day off today.
(the part that sucks is how many hours i will work the next few days and the entire weekend)
-going to the library this morning and getting the brand new book from an author who's first book i finished last night, also getting the warren ellis book that i have been wanting to read, and finding a novel that i never knew existed by chuck zito.
(yes, that chuck zito )
i Chuck Zito. ( Chuckie Pancamo, ftw...)
- i have recently realized that i think in british slang. for reals.
* i think this is a result of having a brain that works very hard to amuse itself or else it gets in way too much trouble...
*reading too much Irvine Welsh, Melvin Burgess, Gordon Legge, Martin Millar ...
*watching too many brit films like Trainspotting, Lock Stock and two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Twin Town, the Krays and anything with Jason Statham...
*too many brit coms including, the Young Ones, Red Dwarf, the Office, Bottom, Ab Fab...
*preferring British Glamour to the American one.
*and having a British soon to be ex-husband and a co-worker who enables this by exchanging the brit slang with me every day.
what does this mean?
that when i am surprised and shocked my head thinks fuckin' gobsmacked.
in my head i am not tired, i am fuckin' knackered.
when i need to do laundry, i need clean knickers.
when i see a cute guy at the grocery store i think fuckin' fit.
i watch violent sports hoping to see a bit of aggro.
i could go on but i am sure i am boring you guys.
- it makes me happy how freaked out i am whatever i am doing , when i hear the part of the commercial for 30 days of night and the old man says 'no god'. creepy often scares me more than overtly scary.
- that so far we have rasied $1000 in the store on behalf of the athletics department that goes directly to breast cancer research at Emory Hospital.
-that i noticed the other day that when i get really tired at work i start to talk Jersey, because i was talking to someone who talks Philly when they get really tired.
-that i have friends here that i like and like to spend time with and that some of them realize that when i am feeling antisocial, it's nothing personal, i just need to hibernate sometimes.
-that sometimes we go to darts and wind up niot playing any darts because we are having a good time talking and chilling.
-limes from a gin and tonic
-soft t-shirts
-fries with malt vinegar
-rosemary garlic mashed potatoes
-shrimp steamed with old bay seasoning
-when random people stop me to compliment my tattoos.
-novelty lighters. i have a penguin from the uk, an ape that spits fire from a rest stop on the way to SGEC camping and a jack-o-lantern that laughs and lights up when you flick it. i sense a collection coming on.
-ryan gosling
