(First attempt at a blog entry so bare with me)
This last weekend I attended a LAN Party with 849 other gamers. This was charity event where we collected money in trade for raffle tickets that gave chances to win prizes donated by sponsors to the event. (Blanked out the name of the event where I could as I was an attendee/part of the community and not directly affiliated with it)
The event 4 days long and for me was mostly us in the dark, staring at our screens and playing our favorite video games either by ourselves or with/against our friends.
Several people also use this as an opportunity to create special moded computers to show off and to compete it competitions on their case mod designs.
Various Sponsors are in attendance promoting their brand and products as well as offering hardware as prizes in competitions, and the charity raffle.
They would regularly roll in large quantities of energy drinks (that would go fast) to help keep us awake (and of course they were sponsors as well)
The 850 of us collected over 45,000 dollars fo Gamers for Giving 2019 and specifically benefiting Gamers Outreach to provide entertainment devices for Children Hospitals. I liked the idea of this charity since I have spent some time in those places with a nephew fighting cancer. (Anything to keep moral high helps.)
I think it's really great when you can have fun and help others too.
