It's weird, but it's possible to be completely alone here. I don't speak the language, I don't work with anyone younger than 50. I go to the conservation lab, I work for 8 hours, I come home. On the weekend, I do binding in the studio for research and thesis purposes. I guess I cook. I don't really have any furniture, even 2 months in. I'm typing this on my workbench, sitting on my stool, those are really the only things I brought with me from NYC.I make way more than I can spend. No T.V, no cell phone, a broken-ass laptop.
I kind of thought I'd go crazy, but it's oddly freeing. When people make friendly entreaties, I have to force myself not to push them away. It's nice having a completely string-free life. Like being miles away from anyone, in the middle of a city.
