A deer moved slowly through some brush nibbling here and there. Its ears alive with movement turning back and fourth as it listened to the music of the forest. A bird's song would rise out of the sea of noise emanating from the woods only to dive back down and rejoin the symphony of life around it. The deer moved swiftly through thickets and past trees barely leaving a trace. A stillness slowly descended through the woods. First the birds' chorus softened to only one or two. Then the crickets and beatles remained still observing the unfolding events. Only the wind breaking through the trees made any noise. The deer stopped dead still, ears turning in all directions almost urging a noise to come fourth giving away danger's position. A whisper of wind spoke to it from its right side. The deer turned its head but it couldn't see or smell anything. There wasn't enough oxygenated blood getting to its eyes, or the receptors of its nose. Its heart had all but stopped pumping due to the arrow that had pierced it. The deer had fallen to its side, primary electrical impulses in its brain had ceased. The forest slowly came back to life as bugs moved about their nests and birds went to and fro looking for building supplies and food for their young. For the deer the forest never came back to life. It remained still forever.
