Foaming At The Mouth
Feelin' Rather Green Today
Since I didn't throw up, get into any fistfights, or get arrested, I guess I can consider St. Patrick's Day to be a success. Still, I was only out until about 7PM and if I'd paced myself better I could have made more of a night of it. But I started drinking around 9:30AM and jumped into it with my customary zeal. The parade route itself was rather short but the weather was agreeable and fine time was had by all.
The problems began when I woke up around 5:30 this morning. I downed the last two beers I had and what was left of my whisky to quiet my nerves. By 7 I was in an awful spot: I hadn't eaten in twelve hours and needed food in my system, but I was so wiped out that nothing was even remotely appetizing. I can generally think pretty logically in crisis situations like that. I knew I would do well to get something starchy and filling but tasty. The answer, doughnuts. I choked down one and a half, plus a small protein shake. Some more beer to keep from getting shaky, water to keep dehydration at bay, and plenty of sleep. When I woke back up this afternoon, a chicken breast. More protein for the body to rely on. I'm never going to truly learn my lesson about drinking too much, especially for big occasions like this one, but I didn't wind up in as bad a shape as I could have.
Tomorrow I find out if I have to apologize to anyone. I don't think so but I know myself too well to figure things went perfectly.
