I'm Going Away
Well, it's Friday morning.
I leave for Iowa on Sunday morning.
I'll spend Sunday night somewhere. Not sure where - just wherever there's a rest area along the highway. Yes, I'll be sleeping in the car. Thankfully it's not the dead of winter, though I have slept in the car at that time of year too.
But it's a long drive to Iowa from Ontario, and I'd rather spread the drive out over two days than make the drive into one long insane drive. That way I can arrive in Iowa in a non-exhausted state mentally and physically.
As you may recall, I actually like long drives. And this time, I'll have my spiffy new mp3 player along for the ride. I have an attachment that lets me connect it to the tape player in the car.
Strangely, I haven't been filling it up with music. I've actually been putting loads of podcasts on it. I've heard other episodes of some of them, so I know some of them are good. But many are unknown entities, and I hope I get lucky and find them worth listening to. They're an odd mix of science, history, sex, old radio shows, religion, mental health, disability issues, current events. A whole hodgepodge, like my brain.
Then, Monday night.... the big moment.....
I get to meet HER!
If you read my last entry, you'll know that I'm off to meet someone I met here on SG, and who has become very special to me over the last few months.
I'm nervous as hell of course.
I know that whatever sparks may fly talking on the phone, they may be quickly extinguished once you meet face-to-face.
So it's very nerve-racking.
But very exciting too. Yes, I have high hopes based on how well we click so far.
I know it might not work out, but I NEED to find out.
Cross your fingers for me. Wish me luck. Say a prayer.

I'll update you all when I get back. If things go well, that won't be for more than a week from now.
I'm still here for about 48 hours, but after that, I won't be on until I come back from Iowa. But don't be offended if I don't comment in your blogs before I leave. I've got a bunch of things I need to do before I go.
