I was originally going to submit this as a news article, but I couldn't figure out if it was politics or culture, so I'm just going to post it here and if one of the editors reads it and would like to use it, then yay for me.
How disgusting are we as a society when a tragic event of terrorist activity in a country we are allied with is pushed from the front page by dinosaur species being discovered in Brazil [Boston Globe] or even the MLB approving the Expos move from Montreal to Washington [Washington Post]. I'm talking about the Madrid bombings that happened late in the evening in Spain on December 3rd. Five bombs exploded in five gas stations halting all traffic in the city for hours. During the day when it was happening, it was the only thing that CNN, MSNBC, Washington Post, and the Boston Globe focused on, but now that it's twelve hours later and we know that there were indeed five explosions and our suspicion in the ETA is practically validated with the only missing link is the ETA claiming responsibility for the action which will likely happen in the next few days [part of their trade mark is to just sit and let it permeate before claiming responsibility].
It is a sad day when we are no longer interested in things that could impact our lives and are more interested in shit that means nothing to us. Well except those few people in Washington who will see an increase in taxes to pay for the stadium, but will get new part time jobs that pay hourly shit and museum curators who can claim another species of dinosaur when you walk through their exhibits.
