This week, I watched Brand New Cherry Flavor and am just about finished watching the Fall of the House of Usher. This has been a bit of a treat for me, as left to my own devices, I generally don’t have the luxury to just sit and binge shows like this. Most of the work I do requires my undivided attention: coding and writing. But lately I’ve left off coding in favor of writing more, and that has led to some interesting developments.
For one thing, I’ve started self-publishing my short stories. I’ve only published one so far, but it’s widely available on Apple Books for less than one US dollar. If you have the luxury to make the purchase and support my work, I will be eternally grateful. If not, you can grab the pdf for free on my github.
This has driven me back into my design work, as I do not have the means to hire a designer for logos, emblems, ebook design, and book covers. As I’m now doing this all to support my writing endeavor, I’ve reopened my art and design project, L V N Λ C Y, to promote my design work.
And because I’m self-publishing, I’ve opted to design my own publishing imprint I’ve dubbed Asylum Books. Naturally, I’m doing the design work for this project as well. But as I’m currently the sole author “signed” to this upstart publishing house, I’m really only designing for my writing, minus the necessary branding materials for the venture.
But it’s in the design work that I know have the luxury to binge Netflix. I start a show on my lift and just sit doodling, drawing, cutting, pasting, arranging, and working with text on Procreate, all while following along with whatever terrible or grotesque paranormal occurrence is being vividly displayed on my television. Lots of fun that.
I’ve also started a midnight writing club: Mad Alex’s Midnight Amusements! Where I am your host, Mad Alex. Well, midnight Pacific Time, anyway. As I write this, it is currently 8:33p, and in less than three and a half hours, I will be popping into Discord to share a prompt and write some flash fiction along with others. Are you a writer? Does this sound like something that interests you? Come join me! Should be a peach of a good time.
Anyway, here’s the sexy @ivydenali in her gorgeous set, Up the Irons:
