It’s interesting how entirely complex a game can be. I returned to Tower of Fantasy (ToF) after almost a year break with the intention of diving deep and really working on my character, and I’m finding that there’s so much to understand about a myriad of mechanics that it’s overwhelming. When I stepped away from playing oh so long ago, only Asperia existed. Upon returning, I was thrown into the Vera storyline. I’ve since wrapped that up and have been working through the Domain 9 story, which, if I understand correctly, isn’t fully released. I’m happy to discover that, as it makes me feel like I’m not that far behind. Though tbh, as mentioned in a prior post about ToF, I’m way behind on my character’s development to feel like I’m anywhere near current.
I started diving into ToF YouTube videos and following ToF peeps on X hoping that by immersing myself into the game and culture I can better develop my character. This has made me realize how little I understood the game to begin with and how much actual effort is needed to build a character that’s worth a damn. I came across this video in my search for ToF content that had me reeling with how much gets refreshed each week:
It left me so overwhelmed, I decided to create a weekly checklist for the game so as not to forget anything. I’m literally working on a Notion page to help keep myself organized on what I’m doing in-game. This is nothing short of obsessive, but you know what? It’s the current I’m swimming in right now and I’m just going to ride it out.
The art continues to amaze me, and I find myself deeply appreciating the attention to detail in the world-building. Instead of teleporting, I’ll often just run or glide to the destination, just to take in the sights. I’m transported to this other world when I play, and these long drives are what helps me deeply immerse myself in it. I fucking love it.
Maybe it’s the escapist pisces in me. Probably.
Here’s a roll of some scenery porn I recorded on my last play in Domain 9:
Anyway, here’s a poster of @christy from her set Play On, Babe:
