Arcane is easily one of my favorite shows ever. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I first tuned in, but I certainly did expect that I would love it as much as I did.
As much as I do.
I watched it, then invited a close friend to watch it. I then watched it again while she watched it, and then we discussed. We then both watched it again, albeit separately, and discussed some more. Now I’m watching it with my lady who’s only seen the first two or three episodes, and I’m so excited. Everything about this show fucking slaps.
Years ago, there was a rival game to League of Legends called Vainglory that I played. The two were fairly similar, though the difference that had me diving into the latter was that I thought it was prettier. The art was astounding; the characters were gorgeous. Not to say that League of Legends has terrible art; au contraire, League of Legends is a beautiful game. Vainglory was just that much more visually appealing to me. Unfortunately, the core development team ended up terminating the game. The community claimed to step up to continue supporting the game, but to no avail. Alas, eventually the community leads announced they’d postpone continued development, and no further announcements have been made with regard to bringing planned game updates to completion.
That’s just too damn bad. Once the announcement came, I moved on. I turned my attention to League of Legends and started casually playing, no longer investing the kind of time or effort into another MOBA as I did with Vainglory. Still, I enjoyed the gameplay and continue to occasionally drop in to a match.
Of course, once I watched Arcane, I did what every other poser out there did and jumped into League of Legends with high fervor. That only lasted for a little bit, but I did it nonetheless, because—and let’s be honest here—Jinx is badass and I love her. I do appreciate that many characters have doppelgängers between the two games, ie Gwen (Vainglory) & Miss Fortune (League of Legends), so making the switch really wasn’t all that painful.
Anyway, here’s @blizzard as Jinx from her set Towards Upper City to celebrate another run through Arcane.
