🚨 Warning: Spoilers Ahead 🚨
I’ve been playing Fallout 4 for a little over a year now. When I first downloaded it from Game Pass, I was annoyed at the settlements mechanic. I was also coming off the heels of playing Control, which is substantially faster paced. My initial reaction was to just delete the game. I didn’t want to deal with any of that.
Fast forward a year later, and I’m eyeballs deep in the Commonwealth. The complete game recently went on sale, so I was able to grab the expansions and work through those as well. I’ve beaten the main story for the core game and all the expansions, as well as most of the side missions that are not unending, such as defending settlements for the Minute Men or locating old tech for the Brotherhood of Steel (BOS). The only things I haven’t seen to the end are P.A.M.S.’ quests to eliminate the BOS, and the BOS side quests that have you extort some of the settlements. Which, upon reflection, might be a viable reason to go through with P.A.M.S.’ plans to eliminate them. That’s something to consider.
Furthermore, I actually enjoy the settlement building aspect of the game. I’ve come to find it rather relaxing. So much so, I’ve started picking up Minute Men quests again in the hopes that I have yet to establish all available settlements. I’ve blown past level 90 and am interested to see how long it might take to completely max out my skill tree as well. And with the Nuka World expansion, I’ve started a Power Armor collection.
JFC, I’m a fucking nerd. At least I’m enjoying myself.
