Barnes & Noble is having a massive sale on their hardcovers. I had no idea until I walked in on a hunt for Tolkien’s The Silmarillion. I looked online and saw they had a beautiful illustrated hardcover edition at my local store. The website, however, lied. They did not, in fact, have it at my local store. Thankfully, there are a few stores within a 20 mile radius, and another location did, in fact, have it in stock. Killer deal, and killer volume.
When the bookseller handed me the book, I was a little surprised to find it wrapped in plastic. It can’t be that fancy, I thought to myself. And after opening it, I discovered that it was not, in fact, that fancy. However, upon opening the front cover, I understood why it was wrapped up: in the front cover and the back cover were two maps that could be taken out and displayed separately. And the hardcover itself, beneath the paper jacket, was absolutely beautiful. All that for half off?
A total win.
I’m such a total book slut. Bibliophile and bibliophage—I embody the two entirely. I really, truly, deeply appreciate volumes like this. Even if I end up not enjoying the book, it’ll look fantastic on my bookshelf, though I am looking forward to reading it … and, er, actually getting through the whole thing this time. lol
