i just got home from my second sunday spent building houses with habitat for humanity. i'm helping to build a house for the cortez family, in compton, ca. they're a really nice family of 5, who actually work but make so little money in a year there was no way they could've been able to get a house (even in compton) without habitat. over the past 2 weekends, i helped put shingles on their roof, siding on their house and insulation in their ceilings. it's amazing what you can do with your own 2 hands if you just try (and have someone to help show the way, of course!).
i'm totally exhausted right now but i'm really happy i did this. it felt really good to do something to help others with my own two hands and sweat, rather than just giving money.
