Meaning evolves. Therefore meaning is contextual.

Isn't it?
venice:
Yes.

At least I think so.

What if there were an artificial womb?

1. Would women gain increasing control politically?
2. Would women gain increasing control economically?

What if two women could have a baby with their genetic material (no male contribuition).

1. Would there be a significant increase in woman-woman headed families?
2. Would a large percentage of men be unable to reproduce at all?
3. Would the percentage of...

Never going back to a place that was a significant point in space and time is sort of surreal.

I grew up in Kansas and spent a lot of time in Oklahoma where my grandparents and one set of cousins lived.

I've not been back to Kansas since I was 18 or 19 nor have I seen any of my friends from grade school since...

That reminds me of a Douglas Coupland book I think. Yes I shot it myself, it was an idea for a set but I got bored of setting up the tripod after about 20 shots! I will put the other ones in my next journal maybe. Hope you're well, you sound very reflective in this journal.
korben:
i know exactly how you feel.

True love is letting go.

By letting go I mean that people cannot self-actualize (see Maslow: hierarchy of needs) if they are under control or being constrained by relationship based conventions.

This is true of all relationships. It is hard for parents to let go with children...even if the child is actually an adult and some never do. Maybe they project the dangerous or "stupid"...

Thinking outside the conventional box opens up possibilities.

Conventions are invented ... abstractions ... so we are governed by some of them purely voluntarily. Some consequences for ignoring a given convention can be quite small (like no one notices for instance) or quite high (like one goes to jail because the ignored convention is enforced by law).

But the realized possibility from thinking outside convention...

so maybe my message wasn't as far off from the topic as I originally thought...hmmm

I'm reading A Brief History of Time right now, which is great, (despite the fact that I know a lot of this stuff already...but it's still awesome).

Actually the really hard part for me is feeling completely useless the whole time. But they're sending me down this weekend to bring her up here, and that helps a lot. I feel better about the whole thing now that I can do something.

Take a look outside your conventions and the win/loss measurements we all make: the possibilities are infinite!

Possibly I'll write more about this sometime. biggrin
hope:
can you explain? I'm a little confused by this...write more about it to me biggrin

Reason two why most women are heroines: They've had to deal with repression (often extreme) of female sexuality for thousands (THOUSANDS) of years.

The conditions of pre-civilization required that men protect and provide for women and children for the obvious reasons that women are less able to hunt and gather when pregnant and little children would have required a lot of attention if they were...

And you should find that encouragment here...this site and these women prove your point. There are so many strong women here, and I agree with you completely, (the feminist in me, after all).

Prior to reading the DiVinci code, I had no idea that women were seen as such powerful beings...but greedy man had to take it away from us. At least you're one of the special ones that is able to see both sides.

Reason number one why most women are heroines: Women have the most rare and therefore valuable reproduction component, the egg. In addition they contribute the most physically and emotionally to the gestation and birth of children. Their courage is often taken for granted.

(Not in any particular order...reason number two is just longer than I had time to write about, it's the gestalt that makes...

It has been proven that all quanta are connected therefore at the most basic physical level we are all connected. (We're also connected to andromeda and anyone {thing} there too.)

This does not mean we are all "family" or "brothers" or any other new age mumbo jumbo.

What makes us unique is our DNA and what we experience consciously (and maybe subconsciously). These things combined...

in my nazi germany class we studied from 1933 through 1945.
we ended with the nuremburgh trials.
i have never been able to retain history that well, but this class was very intersting, even if the teacher smiled when he should not have.

Entropy is the curse and the blessing. Without it we would not exist but it assures that our existence is temporary. I try to remember that I would rather have had this short life than no life at all. Id have rather known those for whom I feel affection for however long or short a time than not to have experienced them at all.

Thank...
