Reason two why most women are heroines: They've had to deal with repression (often extreme) of female sexuality for thousands (THOUSANDS) of years.

The conditions of pre-civilization required that men protect and provide for women and children for the obvious reasons that women are less able to hunt and gather when pregnant and little children would have required a lot of attention if they were to survive.

Civilization brought more complex societies and agriculture (a female invention) but the males were not about to give up the top dog position and with civilization came the paternalistic very male God and anti-female dogma. Eve caused the fall of man from a state of grace (and ignorance). Islamic women were instructed (by God of course) to cover to the point of showing nothing.

Female sexuality was and, to some extent still is feared by men and something to control. The big three paternalistic Gods demanded it be so. In still primitive areas of the glove female circumcision is used for control as well.

What we've gotten for this is several thousand years of male domination rather than co-domination. My opinion is that, from a natural selection p.o.v., this needs to change.

At times I find encouragement here at SG.
hope:
And you should find that encouragment here...this site and these women prove your point. There are so many strong women here, and I agree with you completely, (the feminist in me, after all).

Prior to reading the DiVinci code, I had no idea that women were seen as such powerful beings...but greedy man had to take it away from us. At least you're one of the special ones that is able to see both sides.
