I personally don’t care about the controversy about the Oscars, probably because I’m French…^_^…but I’m Black, therefore I just want to say this:
1/ Apparently, between 90% and 95% of the members of the Committee of the ceremony are white men. They are not even able to make a true gender equity, you think they are ready to make racial diversity?Seriousmy...
2/ Tell me if I’m wrong, but my impression is that blacks actors won an Oscar, mostly, when they play the role of a villain (Denzel Washington was a dirty cop in “Training Day” and Forest Whitaker was a bloodthirsty african dictator in “The Last King of Scotland”) or when they are in a weak position (Lupita Nyongo'o was a slave in “12 Years a slave”, Hattie McDaniel was a servant for southerners in “Gone with the Wind”). Will Smith would probably deserved to win an Oscar in 2002 for his wonderful interpretation of Mohamed Ali. He has been acclaimed both by critics and the public. But I think the Oscars, hypocritically, does not wish to crown the incarnation of a Muslim boxer, who had rebelled against the discriminatory US policy at the time and who had refused to fight with the US Army during Vietnam War ! It is easier to reward Jamie Foxx in the role of Ray Charles (who deserved his Oscar because he was amazing in this movie!).
3/ The majority of movies I watch are never selected! ^^ And Leonardo DiCaprio is a proof that you can be one of the best actors in the world and have a great career without winning an Oscar! ^^

2/ Dîtes moi si je me trompe, mais j’ai l’impression que les Noirs remportent un Oscar, en majorité, uniquement quand ils jouent le rôle d’un méchant(Denzel Washington était un flic ripou dans “Training Day”, et Forest Whitaker était un dictateur africain sanguinaire dans “Le Dernier Roi d’Ecosse”) ou quand ils sont en position de faiblesse (Lupita Nyongo’o était une esclave dans “12 Years a Slave”, Hattie McDaniel était une servante pour des sudistes dans “Autant en Emporte le Vent”). Will Smith aurait sans doute du remporté un Oscar en 2002, pour sa formidable interprétation de Mohamed Ali. Il a été acclamé à la fois par la critique et le public. Mais je pense que les Oscars, hypocritement, n'a pas souhaiter couronner l'incarnation d'un boxeur musulman et contestataire et qui avait refusé de se battre avec l'armée américaine pendant la guerre du Viêt-Nam ! Il est plus facile de récompenser Jamie Foxx dans le rôle de Ray Charles (qui de toute façon a mérité son Oscar dans ce sublime film!).
3/La majorité des films que je regarde n’y sont pas nommé. Et Leonardo DiCaprio est une preuve que vous pouvez être l'un des meilleurs acteurs dans le monde et avoir une grande carrière sans gagner un Oscar! ^^
