The gong show didn't go well. The A/C was broken, so it was hot, and almost impossible to keep the crowd's attention with prepared material. Plus they didn't really want to hear anything said by a middle eastern kid who identified himself early on in his set (that would be me) so it turned ugly quick.
I refused to let the crowd get to me. I wouldn't give into them, and I wasn't going to plead with them. So I reached out and took control back over the room. It surprised everyone, including me, and was the best moment of that day. I didn't pick up on what I needed to do to keep them there fast enough, though, so they got away from me again and at that point I let it go. But for a moment, I felt larger than life, and three hundred some odd people agreed with me.
