Today I watched a video from PBS about how the first known democracy began in Athens...I'm not entirely sure if I put a whole lot of trust in history, seeing as how we have absolutely no idea whether or not any of it actually happened the way people say it did, but it was fucking inspiring. The part I liked most was the unprecedented uprising of the Athenian commoners, who took out the ruling tyrant and the Spartans supporting him. The fucking Spartans had the advantage of being raised as soldiers for most of their lives, and they were defended in a citadel, AND they had the high ground. The Athenians still took em' out, and then called their old leader out of exile to set shit straight. Such a good story.
