Ideas for a comic brewing in my head. Still vague. I'm afraid to try and give them definition yet. I'm going to wait a little while.
Feeling a lot better about life (I really wish "alot" was the word...) lately. I don't know why. Maybe it is because I am trying to. The balance is delicate.
I hope my poem about naked punk girls makes it into the school literary magazine. I won "best prose" for two semesters in a row now. I wasn't inspired to write any prose this semester, unfortunately.
We're reading John Milton for Major British Writers right now. I love John Milton. Might have something to do with my morbid fascination with the Devil as a literary figure. There is such a strange paradox in the way that we perceive him as a culture. While being the embodiment of darkness and despair and suffering in the world, he is also often depicted at the spirit of rebellion who rises up against an oppressive authority. Is this not the foundation of America?

The Satan
I like Lucifer
"The Shining One"
Rebellion as the foundation of America?
Political Heresy, my friend.
History is being re-written to support a foundation that eschews rebellion for security.
Haven't you heard?
America was founded by wealthy men -
business men who wanted to protect their right to amass ungodly amounts of wealth.
The new American way.
The embodiment of darkness and despair and suffering?
The embodiment of change I say.
Like the serpents I decorate my skin with,
transition. Growth.
Acquisition of knowledge,
that which is power.
For some, power equals control,
and that is why those in power are adverse to
allowing knowledge into the hands of others.
They "demonize" change
turn the "shining one"
the illuminated
into something
to fear.
milton is excellent. im glad you like him.
thanks for your advice
