So today I am at home due to an evil cold. Everytime I swallow it feels as if there is a knife in my throat. This however is slightly more preferable to the other bad thing about today. For today, March 9th, is the day I get to see the last episode EVER of The L Word.
6 seasons down the line and I've grown to love all the characters (or in Jenny's case I love to hate her) I coped with Dana's death, and I even got over Carmen and her amazing ass leaving the show. But the fact that, after today I'll get no new episodes to watch, makes me a little sadder than it really should.
6 years of watching totally unrealistic lesbianism on TV every week has completely changed our little queer community. How do we now start conversations with lesbians we've never met before? We'll no longer be able to bond over how cute and funny Alice is, how amazing Jennifer Beales looks for her age or the fact that we all secretly want to be Shane.
This is almost as bad as the day Buffy came to an end. I can guarantee I'll be crying like a small child later when I have to say goodbye for one final time. So I raise my mug of Lemsip to Ilene Chaiken and say Ta Love. You didn't always get it right, but you listened to the fans when we hollered at you. You've kept us guessing right to the end, and I can even forgive the rubishness of season 4 as I'm feeling incredibly nostalgic right now.
So as I wait impatiently for the final episode to download I shall pass the time lookoing at fanvids on youtube. Each and everyone one made by a lesbian with a LOT more time on her hands than I have, this is one of the better ones
