As far as the state of my mental health, it is a back and forth battle. Some days are fine and others are terrible and dangerous. I have good parents, siblings and friends though and they stand by me whenever things get bad.
Physically, I have come across a lot more information on Graves' Disease and the repercussions of the medications used to treat it as well as the more "permanent" treatments, one of which they want to use with me. I have found that you can't actually cure Graves' Disease, but rather treat it until it manifests other side effects and you keep going. The medication that I am on has had some very terrible side effects on a large number of patients and and my dosage is twice the amount of anybody else I have come across thus far. The radiation treatment that they want to use on me to destroy my thyroid sounds far worse than the medication though. Many people have developed a nasty eye problem called Thyroid Eye Disease or TED for short.
It is all a mess and far more serious than I thought it was, than the doctors are actually telling me.
On a lighter note, I have caught up on the Flight of the Conchords and it is still very amusing. This past episode featured one of my favorite songs from the "Folk the World" album, and not only is it an awesome David Bowie inspired song, they impersonated his voice better in the show than they do on the cd and Jermaine was dressed up as Bowie from the Ziggy Stardust era, Hunky Dory era, Labyrinth era and one other I can't remember. It was quite pleasing and helped greatly with my mood.
I have been reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but that is going very slowly as I am having issues concentrating, so I took a break and broke out some comic books. That was a nice change of pace and also helped me stay distracted for a while. I plan to mix in a few comics every night from here on out. Yesterdays comics were: Shaolin Cowboy #7 (always bad ass), Local #9 (toned down but perfect), Satan's $@#%* (or Sodomy) Baby (not nearly as bad as I thought it would, be still loads of fun), The Goon #19 (about damn time, but I can easily wait months for an issue and not be disappointed) and City of Others #2-3 (I love how Wrightson gets first billing over Niles, but either way they make a great team and one hell of a fun book).
That is all from me for now. I have some gardening to attempt and then need a shower before work. Today has been alright and I am trying my best to keep it that way.
Cheers, Bini.
