not much to relate today apart from one really touching moment. i was walking home from the station at thames ditton and as you walk down the road leading away from the station you come to a corner of a roundabout. but on the left is a small paddock used to keep animals, there was a goat for years.
currently it is occupied by two little ponies. one is a shetland, grey-dun, about 40 inches high, and the other is a little chestnut mare only about 12.5 hands high. she is beautiful, the sort of pony you imagine ponies *should* look like, perfectly proportioned and just the right bright orange color with white socks and a pretty blaze down her face.
today as i walked by i saw this youth i have seen before, he is in his early twenties or late teens and dresses like the kinda bloke who would spit on me in the street. we're talking gold piercings, slightly worn designer sports gear, latest nike trainers. walks like he has a chronic ankle problem, a walk he has carefully cultivated to fit in with his peers...and he was picking grass from the planted areas by the street and feeding it to them through the wire fence! their field is all mud now, they've churned it up, i've seen them galloping in it by moonlight which is something pretty special to see in surrey by the main road. so this guy takes pity on them and feeds them grass by the handfull, carefully stooping to pick the freshest looking leaves.
so much for stereotypes...
