Today is a better day. But considering how boring, sidney, boring last night's ceremony was, I doubt it could be anything but. Luckily, I was able to sneak my way out of there after the second speaker - it was like a prison break. Then I made my way back to the showroom where I meet some of the few cool people at this market. Actually, the almost-only cool people here. Some are around my age, some a bit older, and a few are the old war-horses who have been in the biz forever - all connected with the line I rep. We sat around, some drank, some smoked, telling jokes and stories. It was easily the best time I've had so far at this market. Not too bad - a great end to the evening. It was good to get a little fun out of the showroom... because it's not easy (like blood from a stone).
Today is going quickly only because it is so busy. I've barely had time to sit, much less check my e-mail. Opened some new accounts, Raymour & Flanigan in the north looks ready to buy, which is insane. That would rival the RTG deal made on Tuesday. They have 64 stores and are opening another 20 soon. [edited for content]. So that's good news.
Even better, I mailed my mix CDs to lorin today. So I'm that much closer to 10 shiny new unheard mixes heading my way. Woo-hoo.
I finally got the new Millencolin CD. I plan on listening to it tonight... I'm saving it so I may give it my full attention. I also bought the Pixies tribute album "Where is my Mind." Damn good CD. The only thing is that "Gigantic" is one of my more favorite songs and the version on the CD is by Reel Big Fish, so it's kind of bass-y and ska-y (if you know their sound). It's a good version, but I really wanted something that just rocked. If ever a song begged for a little faster and a little harder cover, it's that one. I bought the music through Interpunk.com. They are awesome. If you don't have a cool local record store, try to support them. They have tons of stuff, ship on time, and always throw in stickers and comp CDs, etc. They are, without a doubt, awesome to the max.
I have already written way too much and I want to go check on all my (three) friends, so that's it for now. Take care, readers
