hey everybody. i spent the entire weekend researching local ghost stories from the south bay area of los angeles. this all started when i was looking for information on the Vanderlip house in Rancho Palos Verdes. this lead me to finding several south bay ghost stories i had never even heard before. i got so wrapped up in this and found so much material, that i decided i want to try and get enough information to write a book. it will probably be centered around the Vanderlip story (the history of frank vanderlip and his family/the various legends about the house/accounts of what people have seen there), but i want to find out as much as i can about the other legends too. (a ghost named Jake who haunts the auditorium of redondo high, ghost runner on the track at carson high, dominguez ranch house, point vincente lighthouse, spike in P.V., wayfarer's chapel, rocky point, prospect street school in hermosa, NW corner of Pacific St. and Banning Blvd in carson, fleming middle school in lomita, drum barracks in wilmington, del amo mall, zamperini stadium at torrance high.
here's where you can help: i need any first hand, second hand or whatever information you may have on any ghost legend or story from any city from el segundo down to san pedro and everything in between to the east end of torrance or carson. i would love to hear from anyone who has been to any of these places and your experiences. (stories of the abandoned mental hospital in Downey would be good too.) i also need the address of the Vanderlip house. i can't find an exact address online. i also want to hear from any former or current residents of P.V. as well as anyone who went to redondo high, torrance high or any other school where people have reportedly seen or heard ghosts.
i know alot of you people are nowhere near southern california, but if for some reason you have any information at all, please send it my way. thanks.
