DG 14 year anniversay party tonight.
I was 11 14 years ago. I would have had to wait 7 more years just to get in. Well, maybe only 5 depending. But still. That's just crazy talk. Must be even weirder for someone else who was going to DG 14 years ago to hear.
In other news, I've completely changed my diet the last 3 weeks, and have been going to the gym (or doing some other sort of working out) for the last 2 weeks ('cept for Sundays) for health reasons. Nothing fatal mind you, well actually it can be if left out of control- but I'm nowhere near that, and getting it normalized now will push me even further away from it. Anyhow- I've had very little wheat, and by little I mean pretty much none, minimal processed sugar, no alcohol (well a few sips here and there. But not even enough to fill a shot glass), minimal caffeine, almost no cheese (I had a bit of goat cheese. I don't even have soy cheese with casien in it anymore), and lots and lots of raw foods, unsweetened plain soy yogurt, and flax seed oil. It's been interesting. I've been forced to read labels and nutrition facts even more than I did before. It takes me even longer to get out of the grocery store. I think I've been to whole foods (whole paycheck) 2-3 times a week on average. On the plus side, it's been fun to figure out how to make baked goods without the wheat. Yesterday I made a flourless cake made with almond meal. I sliced it in layers and put strawberries and vanilla (laced with a bit of rum) soy custard in between. Yum. I only bake on Sundays. Last sunday I made a chocolate chip, peanut butter banana bread using a mix of chickpea flour and brown rice flour. That came out really good. The week before that I made chocolate chip cookies. Didn't come out so good. The boy liked them, and I thought the
flavor was good- the texture just sucked though. I didn't know about Xantham gum yet. Oh, and on the subject of cooking- I made corned beef and cabbage for St. Patty's day. Minus the beef of course. So I guess it was just corned cabbage and potatoes. Whatever the case, it was good. But we have sooo much leftover.
Blah Blah Blah- food food food. I feel like all I've been doing these last 3 weeks is think about food. I also feel like I'm eating way more than I used to. But, I'm losing weight. Nothing unhealthy though. Actually, I look leaner. I measured my waist yesterday and I'm at 22.5". 3 weeks ago I was at 24". And no, I don't measure my waist all the time- I only do it when I'm sewing. And I've been sewing lately.
Yeah, ok. I'm boring even myself here.
Kisses
