Hey you guys, what's up? Well today's Father's Day, so Happy Father's Day to those of you who are eligible Being Father's Day, that meant that I was up in the High Desert all day. It's a family tradition for us to all go up to the Mojave Narrows every year for the bluegrass/country festival that's held there every Father's Day weekend. I was raised on hillbilly and mountain music. Who woulda thought? It's good though, and I'm glad that I can appreciate it for what it is. Bluegrass is the thrash metal of the country world But what really kicked ass was this year, Merle Haggard was the headliner. I saw him once before, about a year ago and it was one of the most expertly executed and professional shows I had ever been to. The man truly is a legend. The stage is just set up in a huge field and country crowds are a lot different than the metal/rock scene, so it was pretty easy to just walk right up to the stage to get some pictures. So here goes:This is the man, Merle Haggard....
This is his horn player, he plays sax, trumpet, whatever is needed. The last time I saw them, I was standing around outside the venue by the street and he walked up to me and asked where the nearest liquor store was. So we talked for a moment and I pointed him off in the right direction. He was cool as shit and just look at his face. He looks like he has his fair share of stories to tell. A few minutes later he came back with a bottle of something in his paper bag and hopped back on their bus. This is Brother Don....
Here's most of the band, Merle Haggard and the Strangers...
Okay, so that was pretty much my day. I've only had about 2 hours of sleep last night, so I need to get to bed soon. I was up taking care of drunks all night. Which is kind of a switch for me I watched my best friend throw up Del Taco all over my other friend's carpet in his brand new apartment Then my friend Jenny confessed all of her sins to me in the bathroom like she was in a confessional. I'm a good listener, and I do care about my friends, especially if they're going through some tough shit, but somewhere around 5:30 in the morning, I passed out on the bathroom floor. She was still talking She woke me up and I went to sleep out in the living room. That's when I heard the violent wretching of my buddy on the floor next to me. Fun times. So anyways, that's been what's going on with me. Oh, and I'm still working on getting those other pictures up. Promise I'm out this bitch......
