The world appears to finally be realizing what I have known since their utterly brilliant 1999 debut Showbiz. Namely, that England's Muse is quite simply one of the most amazing and talented bands making music today.
Their latest effort, Absolution, is a sheer delight. Critics be damned, this is some of the most unique, inventive music on the scene today. True, the band incorporates the affect of a multitude of obvious influences, yet they manage to weave them all into a sound distinctly their own.
2001's import-only Origin of Symmetry remains my favorite Muse effort. Plans to release a domestic version are already in the works.
If you haven't heard this band yet, DO IT NOW! Anyone who likes Nirvana, Queen, Placebo, Radiohead, The Who and countless others will no doubt seriously LOVE this band.
UPDATE: I just figured out that they remind me a great deal of The Psychedelic Furs, who I absolutely love.
Eerie whispers trapped beneath my pillow
Won't let me sleep, your memories
I know you're in this room, I'm sure I heard you sigh
Floating in-between where our worlds collide
It scares the hell out of me
And the end is all I can see

The Death of American Farming: You can thank your friendly neighborhood Republican Party reptiles for this one. Bastards.

I didn't really bother Nic... I don't think. She posted a Journal a bit ago, said she was looking for a place to accept "shot horror fiction" and I asked if she meant to write "shit horror fiction" and... if you live for minutiae and have a spare 20 minutes you could follow the exchange, but uhh don't bother. She just meant to write "short horror fiction"; if I wasn't dumb as crap I woulda figured it out sooner than two weeks later.
Hey, I want Steph to write to me, too!
