Human beings are a parasitic race and we are multiplying entirely too fast. We are destroying the world we live in (and I am most assuredly including my ass in the group) and our grandkids are, in all likelihood, going to grow up in a VERY shitty world.
Americans have two options as a country right now, and neither of them are gonna lower gas prices any time soon. So, why do 69% of Americans LIKE the idea of offshore oil drilling as well as DESTROYING a NATIONAL wildlife reserve in Alaska (How can that even be legal?) to get more crude oil instead of spending those same billions of dollars researching and developing biodiesel fuels, and/or hydrogen and solar power? I mean honestly, 69%? Are the majority of us really not looking in the mirror and seeing how disgusting we are? I'm not perfect. I know I'm not close. I drive a 1985 Pontiac Trans Am, getting about 18 mpg on the highway. I LOVE meat, almost regardless of the animal it comes from. However, I don't hunt. I've never gone hunting for sport even ONCE in my life. As an adult, I'm not much of a litterbug, and when the option is available to me, I recycle.
I just wonder why us humans, as a whole or even just a majority, don't slow down and pay atleast a little bit of attention to what we're doing to the planet that we have to live on. It's not like we're gonna be colonizing Alpha Centauri any time soon.
