What a lovely day. Rained for two days straight, and then the sun came out. Gorgeous. (except for all the dead worms squished on the sidewalks, eww!) I am optimistic. Productive. Feel like running. Maybe I will actually make it out after work tonight. That would be so cool.
Dude, my brother is so smart (16). We IM-ed last night (I talk to him the most on that thing; he is so awesome). He asked me all these questions about my work and what I study.. and I wrote lots of short and quick sentences back, and he understood! He is starting to study genetics and to draw punnet squares and all that, and he really gets it. X chromosome, male vs female transmission, expansion, gene expression... (I study Fragile X Syndrome; you've probably never heard of it - the most common form of inherited mental retardation). Anyway, just wanted to take a second and tell you how great my brother is. I moved out of the house when he was 8, and I try my best to keep with it, to be a sister, to come home regularly, to give each of them their own special attention (there are 6 of us in total).
Last summer I flew him down for 10 days and we had the most crazy awesome time. Camping in Tahoe and also near the ocean under redwoods, swimming, running around scrambling up and down rocks and cliffs (that was fucking awesome!), San Francisco, amusement park, movies, restaurants, so much more I can't remember right now. He is so nice and open-minded. He amazes me. And he is this computer genius that was taking them apart and putting them back together when he was in the sixth grade. And he was on the varsity football team last year (and this year, too) as a freshman. Haha, and he was telling me the other day about all these different cookies he was baking for valentines day. Yesterday he said I needed to find a boy that would worship me (haha! thanks dude), that would go adventuring with me. And also of course that I need to make a lot of money someday and fly him down so we can go on lots of adventures ourselves.
And so now this has turned into an ode to my brother. Bro, you rock!!! One day he is going to make someone soooo happy. He makes me happy.
