At work Wed. I was asked/told me that I might have to work Thursday if they couldn't get ahold of the other night auditor. They had been unable to get through on the number they had on file. I even got a call Wed. morning, them asking if I had a different number. This while I was sleeping from the previous nights work. I was not happy at all. So I called her right when they told me, I got through no problem but hung up, since it isn't my place to tell her she needs to be at work. I told management that I got through just fine, and she might have the hotel's number blocked.
They got through Thursday morning, and I didn't have to work last night. A good thing because I feel like crap. Not sick, but muscles hurting horribly. My back always hurts, I have lived with that for 8 years, but my neck arms and thighs hurt so bad.
I will be spending my days off doing as much of nothing as possible. Along with trying not to spend any money. I feel like it is burning a hole in my pocket, but what I have I don't. It all needs to go to paying down my many debts.
Oh well, I will keep trying to fight the good fight

doing nothing is the best way to spend days off

No problem. Sometimes people who work in bike shops have a 'studied nonchalance' b/c they know most people either have no idea what they're looking for, are only looking for status symbols bikes, or are just having a look-see. If you're very specific, you'll eventually find someone who can help, but you may have to specify upfront that you're not looking for a brand new bike- at least, $600 won't get you what you're looking for unless it's the Pista or Langer, and while they're nice, the preconfigured fixies limit your options further down the road. If you can find an older road frame with horizontal dropouts, it should be perfect for you.
