I was spared having to work a marathon 8 nights in a row, but the 2 days the other auditor, Diane, picked up didn't feel like much of a help. Mainly because those were slow nights, and the nights I came back to were busy/crazy.
I have one more night to work after this one is done, then I have 4 days off. The reason I have had to work so much was because Diane's 16 year old daughter was having a baby. The story goes as such. 5 months into the pregnancy she 'finds out' she is pregnant (ie. she can't hide it from her family any more) She doesn't know who the father is, and then goes on to try and say she never had sex. (i don't know her name, but who knows, it could be Mary). Her family is really religious, and she is giving the baby up for adoption, not a new story there. The thing is, her oldest brother is the one who is adopting the baby.
I don't know these people, and barely know Diane, but my uneducated guess (read: gut feeling) is that she was forced into this decision in one way or another. But that could be completely wrong, just the impression I have gotten from Diane makes me lean that way.
Anyway, that is the backstory/ gossip. She finally had the baby this weekend, and I was scheduled to work Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. Diane called our manager, Jessica, today to leave a message telling her the baby was born and it was a girl and all that. She also said that she would probably be able to get back to work Friday. Thank God Jessica acted like a manager and finally put a foot down and said that wasn't happening.
I understand that it was Diane's baby girl having a child, and that the father was not going to be there, so someone needeed to be there to support her. The fact is Diane wasn't the one having the baby, and there was absolutely no reason, after that child was born, that she had to stay away from working 11pm-7am any longer.
So Jessica called her back, but could only leave a message. She assured me that I wouldn't have to work anything other than what I was scheduled for, and that she told Diane that she had been given enough time off. My manager did warn me that Diane might be calling to try and get me to work, but that I was under no obligation to do it.

spamtwo:
tell Diane to get stuffed if she tries it on. It's not your fault her daughter is a fuck up and shouldn't have to suffer because of it.
