More pics Fractal took of our grand adventures in Costa Rica. This cheery fellow greets you helpfully as you step off the plane. He and a Cinnabon are the very first things we encountered. I think it's really nice, how they offer to "drive you to jail".
This is San Jose, the street without street signs, which I highly recommend avoiding at all costs.
As you can see, the main building material here is corrugated tin. I can't even imagine where they GET all that tin.
However, the colonial era did produce a few stone buildings, which hold up pretty well even in the Costa Rican climate. I can't say I like much about missionaries, but damn they do architecture good sometimes.
