Thursday I braved the horror of the Craigslist rideshare to come up to SF for a week. Five hours of Queen and the smell of Turkey Jerkey later, I was here.
Saturday morning TheRightBastard decided that we were going to Monterey. So, we rented a car, threw FatDog in the back, and headed down. We bought bathing suits along the way and spent the night in a four-star hotel eating mushrooms and E, sitting on a beach listening to the harbor seals snorting and farting and doing God-only-knows what else in the darkness all around us, then rolling about in expensive sheets and playing in the "rain shower". In the morning we explored tide pools full of crabs and tiny fish, navigating rocky shoals in questionable footwear and getting doused by the occasional wave. Then we drove back up to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and finished the whole thing off in white trash heaven, with roller coasters and haunted houses and a funnel cake the size of a laptop.
Life, she is pretty good right about now.
Harbor seals, by the way, bear a striking resemblance to FatDog.
