what else could follow a family party but a MONTAGE!
my aunt, who has the midas touch, is thinking about going into photography professionally. she knows the trick to a good smile: genuinely feeling good. I am just stunned by what she turned out just by making us giggle.
edit: the camera doesn't hurt her at all. that last shot, which is of me, is an "action shot." I'm actually swinging in that hammock.
I showed her some of my art. I actually kind of felt like I was having show and tell day with her... she's the aunt part of the aunt and uncle I lived with for a bit while I was in law school, so we are very close. anyway, it was pretty neat how she looked at my art and when I looked at it with her it didn't look so ....disposable? ....unwhole? ...less-than-valid? I guess that's why artists have shows. it feels real on the inside and while making it, but once it's made it's just there and someone else needs to appreciate it in order for it to be real again.
oh, plus, once things started dying down and my brother pulled out his geetar of course, that ol' six foot blonde came out, too. he sang a song I like so I was kind of singing along and my mom grabbed the bass, which was rockin', and we had our very own little family band-- j grunts on shakers, ya dig? it was great.
p.s. I am still quit smoking, regardless of what kills me.
