The week in review:
I've decided to buy a house. Yea! Hooray! Woo hoo! Yeah! Okay, so it's not going to happen this week or this month or anything, but I've been at my job for a year and it's been something I've wanted for a really long time. The goal is to find a place either on a bus line or within biking distance to my job and downtown. Preferably both. I'm pretty excited to be a total DIY'er and really make it my own place. I've got everything set up with my money people, so on Monday we're going to get the ball rolling. I actually pay someone to manage my budget for me, so I've got a bit of an extra step here, but it's 100% worthwhile because without them, none of this would be happening.
I started Chantix. Ten days after I quit with the inhalers, I had a hardcore relapse, and I couldn't get back on track. I talked to my doctor about it, and we decided to try this. The medication blocks the nicotine receptors in my brain, which makes me really nervous for a lot of reasons. They also have a very intense support program. I started the medication on the 7th and I quit (again) on the 14th.
Just in case you're curious as to why June 14th is a significant date, it is the two year anniversary of my heart surgery. I consider this day almost more important than my birthday.
The week started out pretty rough, though. I had a pretty nasty tiff with a friend. Same old story.
Monday, the other underwriter's mom died, and my dad, the general manager who also does underwriting, left for a few days for a conference, so I was the only underwriter for most of the week. I worked 10-12 hour days pretty much every day. Plus, my cunt bubble coworker is pretty much imploding. We have dealerships calling in to complain about deals not being funded. When they were slow, she kept blaming it on employment verification, since I was in almost every day this week at 8 or 9 to get that done before I did everything else and there are no deals pending verification, she can't hide behind that anymore. On top of that, I came across a deal, entirely by accident, that we received (and got employment verified on) on the 31st that wasn't even on the books! We guarantee funding within three days, so that was a pretty big deal.
I did get to plant flowers in our big cements pots out front, which was fun.
Oh, also, the robins out front are so big and cute! I think they are close to flying. I want to get them worms. They are very brave, though. I've gone up to them and talked to them, and they just look at me like I'm silly.
Oh, and even though I can't read it, someone should give me this because I love it.
ha ha ha
go ahead and get me Shakespeare's original folio while you're at it, okay? oh, why must I love books? Why must I love those books?
I'm listening to Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer right now. I fall in love about every three minutes. I'm so glad I signed up for this audiobook subscription. I used to read voraciously, and it appears my appetite is every bit as good when the words as read out loud. Plus I can knit! Double bonus!

That being said, YAY on the house decision!! Also, I love the term "cunt bubble," it's so gross and so funny at the same time. I totally feel you on the love of books thing. We're packing up to move, and suddenly I realize that while we have 5 boxes of DVDs, we also have 5 BIGGER boxes (SO FAR) of books. And there's still easily a hundred books scattered around that I have yet to stack, organize, and box. Such an addiction, and such heavy boxes.
Oh yeah, for more details on my drama, read my journal, I posted that just for you! (You're the only one that asked!)
Talking to robins is compleately worthwhile. I talk to all the animals around our house. We live near a forest so we get dear and bunnies and all sorts of lovely animals. I love them all except for the fucking racoons who dig in the garbage and make a huge mess!
