I don't care who you are; it would suck to have the majority of your birthday gifts be drinking paraphernalia.
my sister's 21 is today. we went to the bar at midnight this morning/ last night. I watched her do 8 shots in an hour before my dad and I left. it was kind of hard to drag him out because he was convinced the girl was going to kill herself. fortunately she got it all out of her system before she went to sleep.
she received three martini sets, a mini keg of oberon, pint glasses with her school fight song on them... it blows my mind.
apparently her favorite drink is a whiskey sour, though. so why did she get martini glasses?
I also think it's telling that no one over 22 was drinking last night, and my whole family was there.
I've only drank once since July last year, and on that ocassion, I dropped a cigarette on myself because I forgot I was smoking and then just watched it burn for a little bit before my guy freaked out and swatted it off me.
strokey brain slow reaction + inebriation = bad idea
speaking of smoking, I've relapsed hard core. after thursday's mele of Very Bad Things, I gave in to the societally accepted self harm. I keep telling myself I'll be done, but then I don't stand by it. I'm frustrated by my addiction.
on a better note, my dad, the general manager where I work, went to a conference this weekend where he and other upper management of my business meet with the upper management of several other like-companies. a company in Ohio that promises quick funding (like we do) has the GM review all deals that haven't been funded after three days. he wants to adopt this policy.
this saves my ass so hardcore.
so we're not going to worry about the past. starting with the deals that come in today, if they aren't funded in three days, he will review them. I think this is an awesome policy for two reasons:
1. we promise funding within three days, and so we should deliver it. if there's any reason at all we can't deliver it, it should be brought to the GM's attention.
2. any grudge, resentment, trouble, or problem my coworker has had, she has an opportunity to resolve it NOW. it she is overwhelmed, she can ask for help. if she can manage with a little more elbow grease, she can put in that effort. if she wants there to be trouble, well, then, she can have trouble.
very fair. knee toe.
um, so my body is giving me some trouble. I don't really want to go into it. send me some good vibes, though.
I think I need to get my own place. I'm going to try to get that figured out really soon.
ultimately, though, things are very good.

bad news about the sis's gifts! --- we all know that 21 is meant to be one of those 'coming of age' moments - but must people mark it by giving gifts of drinking? --- is drinking a milestone in adulthood?
I like the fact that things seem to be alil rosier in your world
vibes vibes vibes.... all very good
