I finished my sweater, finally.
(excuse the incredible double chin in that picture. ugh)
it took me five months, but I finally got it done. to be fair, during that time, I also started a felted chain for my ex (before his roommate's dog ate it, my beautiful Brittany double pointed needles, and my ball of yarn), and I COMPLETED one fishnet stocking and the freehand lace piece I used in my badlands set. oh, and I made a camera case for a friend out of yarn from the destroyed freehand lace piece. guess which friend...
mmm... here in my head... what a beautiful song...
twice, recently, in the subject line of messages to me, people have used the subject line "Tori Amos?" with no context to explain it whatsoever. is there something about me that makes one think of Tori Amos? one message was on the dating/ meeting people site I frequent, so I just thought maybe the person had pulled her name out of the gigantic list of artists that I like, but the other was today on the depeche mode message board. talk about strange.
oh, and on the subject of that beloved band:
I received a second spoof e-mail today about that concert package. this spoof e-mail was much more together, with the ebay images and everything. people are assholes. BRAT got back to me, though, and told me to report it to ebay. I guess that's why established servers like ebay are good: they handle the assholes.
however, while looking at airfare to Leipzig, I don't think I can go to that show. tickets start off around $1,200. I love the band, but I think I need to see them in the US. it makes me sad, though, because there are meet and greet passes available (for another $700 through the Edwards Foundation), and it would be a dream come true to shake the hands of the men who have created the soundtrack to my life.
(does anyone want to send me to Leipzig?)

believe it or not, I'm a bit of a green thumb. I have this one particular plant that I've loved dearly for a very long time, but for about the past year, it's been dormant. it's my fault, really. shortly before my heart surgery, I spent longer than I had expected to away from my apartment and most of my plants got over-heated from being in the window. some plants died, some recovered, but this one plant went deep into its roots and hid. it lost all of its leaves and I kept thinking it was going to die, but it didn't. it was tenacious. it held on with the strength of warrior.
a couple of months ago, a friend suggested that I plant it outside. I was hesitant to give it up, because I won't be here very long and after it grows big, healthy, and happy, I will be somewhere else and I will miss it, but we decided that was what was best.
I'm glad I did. my orange trumpet vine has a new sprout.
I took a picture, but it's so hard to see. plus my digital camera sucks ass.
okay, I know that's a completely unimpressive image, BUT MY ORANGE TRUMPET VINE HAS A NEW SPROUT!
okay, so another green baby story! wee!
this winter, I was taking out the trash and I noticed a stalk. why, oh why, is there a stalk under the kitchen sink? well, a potato had gotten so excited about growing that it grew with a mighty heart. I pulled out the bag and rescued this excited little plant, only to find that at least half of the potatoes in the bag were sprouting. my my! they had stuggled against such odds! little potats!
so I took them out and I planted them. they did so well... until the bunnies found them. then, the bunnies ate all of their leaves and left the stalks to die.
fear not, dear reader! hope springs eternal!
I was pulling out the dead stalks, and what did I find but itty bitty baby potats!
