So, a while back, having never seen it, I picked up The Incredibles on DVD.
I finally decided to sit down and watch it on Saturday, and..uh...watched it again not too long ago.
It's a great movie, written and directed by Brad Bird, who also did The Iron Giant, so can't go wrong there.
Loved how they let sensibilities and influences from 2D animation mesh with the 3D. The movie has a nice style to it.
Also, knowing my superheroes like I (sadly..or not) do made the movie even better on that wonderful geek level
Oh yeah..and there was death and explosions...and hugs (that's what the special features say, anyway)...yeah, big sap for some of the themes in the movie.
Kinda want the soundtrack too.
So, yeah, great movie...good sort of cleansing after Lords of Dogtown, too.
Of course, I firmly believe it doesn't matter if the animation is 2D or 3D. If the story, characters, and writing in general are crap, the movie's not good for much more than eye candy. Of course, if it's well written, and the animation's crap..that makes it kinda hard to watch, too.
But both are great in The Incredibles...which I definitely liked better than Finding Nemo...but I wasn't that impressed with Finding Nemo, anyway.
That's right, I like cartoons..."What, you think just 'cause a guy reads comics [and watches cartoons], he can't start some shit?"
