I am still very busy buccaneering, so I haven't really been keeping up with the journal entries. Thankfully buccaneering is paying quite handsomely at the moment for I've managed to seize quite a few treasure galleons. I can only hope that many more treasure ships fall into my paws. I also have a new play thing to keep me busy and well entertained. I have great fun playing and my toy often looks somewhat catted after I've finished. So at the moment, I am a tired but "purrfectly" content little white cat.
I am still giving considerable thought to the nature and function of art. The lovely Juliana's intelligent comments on the subject have given me something further to ponder. If art is the personal appreciation of life, in both its sacred and profane aspects, is it then a way of communicating your experiences of being in the world. Does it then follow that the greatest art is born out of suffering rather than joy, out of agony and not ecstasy.
Once again, gentle readers, I put before you a question. Is the greatest art born out of one's experience of agony or ecstasy?
