So I've been really slack with my @bloghomework , if this was school, I'd have failed and be in detention for eternity! Luckily, @missy @lyxzen and @rambo are not mean teachers so there's plenty of time to play catch up! I was going to do an older one but then this week's topic came out and I couldn't resist!
Favourite TV Shows!
I am a massive couch potato (read: bed potato) and could happily spend majority of my free time watching reruns of TV shows. I have so many favourites so I'm going to do a top five. Note: This was more difficult than I thought.
In no particular order:
1. Star Trek
Space: The Final Frontier. Star Trek is just brilliant! Science fiction is one of my all time favourite things and Star Trek was/is one of the best Sci Fi franchises ever. Star Trek was very revolutionary. Many technologies used in Star Trek were inspirations for later technological advancements, such as mobile phones, iPads etc. Star Trek also featured the first scripted interracial kiss on television, which was a step forward for African Americans at a time when they were not considered equal. Many of the ideals found in Star Trek are inspiring, such as the way they view money and Spock's logic over emotion, a concept that I personally found very helpful a few years ago but that's another story. Star Trek is one of my go to happy shows, if I'm in a bad mood this never fails to put a smile on my face. The ridiculous fight scenes and the witty banter between the cast, most notably Kirk and Spock are just too amusing to be sad. If you've never seen an episode then you need to rectify this immediately. Start with The Original Series or The Next Generation. Don't even bother with Enterprise.
2. Sex and the City
Sex and the City used to be my biggest guilty pleasure. But then I got over the shame and now would happily scream from rooftops that I love it. Cosmos and inappropriate sex talk for the win, always. No matter how much you might dislike the show, you can't help but identify with one of the main four characters. I'm a Carrie for sure. I'm a sucker for Big and Carrie.
3. Friends
Friends is just one of those shows you can watch over and over and over. And the jokes are still funny every damn time! I have watched Friends on repeat for days at a time, I have seen every episode at least 5 times. Friends is my go to show when I'm sick or can't sleep, it's comforting, you know? And Monica and Chandler's relationship? Perfect.
4. Doctor Who
Dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun WOOOOOO OOOOOOO! Yes, that is me singing the Doctor Who theme song, yes, I do do this ALL THE TIME! Doctor Who is amazing! Eugh! I can't even explain how amazing it is! David Tennant and Matt Smith are just brilliant in their roles of the Doctor. I experience so many different emotions watching this show. The feels man, the feels! Seriously though, how great would time travel be!?
5. New Girl
New Girl is my favourite current show, Zooey Deschanel, I mean come on! Unf! This is a show about a girl who moves in to a loft with four dudes and hilarity ensues. Jess is my spirit animal but slightly more awkward. Also, Nick Miller is a god. I cannot watch this show with out laughing so much it hurts! It's just too good.
Picking five was difficult but I could literally go on for ever so I had to draw the line somewhere! Honourable mentions to the following shows as well though:
The Newsroom, Parks and Recreation, Black Books, Bob's Burgers, Californication, Boston Legal, How I Met Your Mother, Orange is the New Black, Masters of Sex, eugh the list goes on and on and on.
But what about you guys? What's your favourite TV show? Tell me your secrets!
Live Long And Prosper,
Vuhlkansu xoxo
