I. Am. Going. Nuts.
So I've been at my new job for exactly a month now. One of the questions I asked during my interview was a polite way of asking if he was a "micromanager". My boss said "no, no, I hate it when people do that, so I wouldn't do it to you."
Well guess what? He lied.
I'm working on the website right now, and LOOK AT WHAT HE HAS ME DOING!
It's awful! I kid you not, he stands behind me and watches me work, making suggestions! To all you non design people out there, that might not seem like a big deal, but the process of designing is a lot of hit and miss, experimentation, a bunch of rough sketches and working with what "works" and what doesn't. The finished product might look nothing like the first draft. With him standing over my shoulder, i feel like I can't experiment because if something looks bad, he'll jump right on it, complaining.
Not to mention the fact that he wants all links bright blue and underlined.
So people recognize they are links, you understand.
He also wants most of the text centered.
It looks neat, he says.
SO WHY THE HELL DID YOU HIRE ME THEN?! If he knows exactly how he wants it to look, why did he hire a designer? DESIGNER?
I don't plan on working at this job for the rest of my life, i never did, but i wanted to at least get a couple portfolio pieces out of it. Yeah, i can make up a design and show it to him as an alternative, but i just don't have the time! I actually got some productive work done today because I glared at him every time he came over by me.
Now, don't get me wrong, the guy is awesome. He's really nice, around my age, so we have common interests, but he just....doesn't get it.
*deep breath.
okay i'm fine.

what are some of your favorite websites, not including this one?

You know what i miss? Saturday mornings. Getting up early and eating cereal and watching cartoons. Now, I wake up around noon and slub about the house doing nothing until i have to go to work. One day soon, I'm going to get up early, scoot up to the telly with my bowl of cinnamon toast crunch, and watch cartoons.
WHO'S WITH ME!?
