As I mentioned in a previous post, I bought the above book at one time. Which I managed to read in the last few days.
Firstly, as I am not a porn actor, I can only tell you about the book as an outsider. I do not and cannot fully understand what the characters in the stories went through. However, I am a human bean, and I know what it is like to be an outsider.
I am truly grateful I read the stories, the editor of the book is Jiz Lee has an enviable network of friends. Joanna Angel, Annie Sprinkle, Betty Blac, Nina Hartley, Candida Royalle, Conner Habib, Dale Cooper, Christopher Zeischegg, Cindy Gallop, Drew DeVeaux, Gala Vanting, Casey Calvert, Lorelei Lee, Stoya, Ignacio Rivera AKA Papí Coxxx, and many, many others.
He does not aspire to present a complete picture of the porn industry. I will mention here that the only weakness of the book is the editing. I did not always understand why the stories came in the order they did.
You can get immersed in the stories, they suck you. The elemental fear that a person feels when they tell one of their secrets, which could have serious consequences. Fear of people from whom we would expect unconditional love. It's shocking from a victim's perspective to see that a healthcare company that handles so much personal information can leak that information. How easily people's life can be ruined by a mixture of negligence and malice. It is horrible to think what it must have been like for the victims to see all their personal details and stage names in one place. It is interesting to see how differently the stage names are handled by the porn stars in these stories.
