They went back on us
Close eyes fall back couldn't step it up
I am currently doing work pissing myself listening to a friend of mine do a radio interview. I didnt realise he was actually friends with the guy hosting and probably insulted him a lot but hey, I'm sure I'll get shouted at later.
They have been the ones who've seen enough
This is what you call love?
I decided to update because well, I'm feeling happier and I thought I should move on from a blog full of Proceed lyrics. Though, they are looking for a guitarist so if anyone plays guitar and likes screamo and lives in the south east of england click here.
They say it's for the best
But I want to leave this place
Failure's a certainty
What is it about October? I obviously have less to do..more time to think [bad] and write [good] and draw [better...if I could actually get ideas onto paper..let's not talk about that]...Every time I walk to university I see more and more of the leaves changing colour as autum creeps in. The nights are definately getting longer and the days a whole lot colder. I dread the time we have to work out how the hell to turn on the heating in this house. Maybe we'll all just sleep in the kitchen with the tumble dryer or the oven on instead. And next weekend the clocks go bad, am I right?
Not even hell could be hotter than you right now...
My weekends are getting busier again and I really need to get organised. This weekend I'm going home to detox my head. Maybe I'll get rid of the...whatever it is that has been invading my headspace recently. At least it will stop me being surrounded by surgically attached couples. [disc.: I have nothing against happy couples, I just want my friends sometimes, not half of a couple]. The weekend after is Hey Chris! in Nottingham, I will also be going to the london one though I will probably just loiter around and look shady at the back of the venue. The weekend after that is Paris! so exited about Paris...There's just something about Paris in October that I love more than any other time of the year. After Paris is reading week, essays and commentaries and hopefully some actual reading. Then Valencia for the weekend...THEN I get to stop. I love my life to be full...did you get that? That is actually mainly for me so that I know where I am supposed to be from here on out.
I never meant to brag, but I've got him where I want him now
It was never my intention to brag
But god, it just feels so good...
So work, I wanted to share some of the cutest funniest things I've had to translate in a while. This is for my Spanish Oral class; we were given some extracts from children's answers to exams. I forget what stage exams they were, but the kids have to have been pretty young. Anyhow, it's things like:
1. Socrates was a famous greek teacher who went around giving people advise. They killed him. Socrates died from an overdose of wedlock, after his death his career suffered a dramatic decline.
3. Sir Francis Drake circumcised the world with a 100-foot clipper.
5. Writing at the same time as Shakespeare was Miguel Cervantes. He wrote Donkey Hote. The next great author was John Milton. Milton wrote Paradise Lost. Then his wife died and he wrote Paradise Regained.
And finally....
8. The nineteenth century was a time of a great many thoughts and institutions. People stopped reproducing by hand and started reproducing by machine. The invention of the steamboat caused a network of rivers to spring up. Louis Pasteur discovered a cure for rabbits. Charles Darwin was a naturist who wrote The Organ of the Species. Madame Curie discovered the radio. Karl Marx became one of the Marx brothers.
These have been keeping me amused all night. The most difficult thing is picking a favourite. I'm sort of sad we have to edit them into proper English and translate them.
Now you've made it clear
I've had my chances
Only one way left to go...
And I will leave you with a quote from a book that is quickly becoming a favourite: Es eso que llamaban Amor [...] Cuando se ama es cuando se consigue ser algo de la Creacin. Cuando se ama no tenemos ninguna necesidad de entender lo que sucede, porque todo pasa a suceder dentro de nosotros.
Here's to being on top of things again.
