So long, Astoria
We found a map to buried treasure
And even if we come home empty handed
We'll still have our stories
Battle scars
Pirate ships
And wounded hearts
Broken bones
And all the best of friendships
And when this hour glass
Has filtered out
It's final grain of sand.
I'll raise my glass to the memories we had
This is my world, and I'm taking it back...I'm taking it all back
Summer.
Well not really, but it feels like it here...only I still have 2 months of classes, the second semester has only just started and I am so done with it already. I still feel like I'm on the english timetable, and right now I should be on easter break, then coming back to uni in may, but only for exams. Whereas in reality I have this month and next month of teaching, a weekend's break to revise then straight into exams. Honestly, I cant quite deal with that because I need nothing else going on to really revise, and a weekend in my opinion is not enough time. But I have given up caring about passing and failing. I will do what I can and if I don't make it into the fourth year of uni then I will take off travelling for a year, I will sort out what I want to do with my life with an unfinished degree, and then it will be a new start. Hopefully that wont happen, but it's always good to have a back up plan.
So I learnt two things yesterday; The sea is still ice cold in April, to the point where you cant breathe if you try swimming, and you start to wonder what hypothermia feels like..and you are definately NOT spanish if you go swimming in the sea in april...thus you get stared at, a lot!
It was about 27 degrees C yesterday so I figured that now would be a good time to go swimming. In my defense I did not run back out of the sea when I realised how cold it was I was typically english and ploughed on, and swam for a good 5 minutes before deciding that my arms would actually stop working if I carried on, and that my fingers had gone numb. I think I will leave the sea another few weeks before I try that again.
Last week I had my friend Rach to stay with me, we had fun times, I did my tour guide bit...which is only good if we go round places I have been, unfortunately we decided to explore some, so my all knowing facade was ripped away We also spent a grand total of 8 hours in Madrid wandering around. I want to go back, if only to visit the Reina Sofia art gallery.
To those who have written me kind messages, mainly Mr Ferret , I am sorry that I am lame and I havent been replying, I read them and I really appreciate them (and I am watching a film a night in spanish as per recommendation and it's working so thankyou!!) I am just in a mood where I am putting everything off.
I dont usually shamlessly plug things but I am going to right now:
Hey, Chris! (aka Christopher Gutierrez) of Fall Out Boy song fame is doing a spoken word tour in England right now, I don't personally know the guy but a bunch of my friends do and apparently he is lovely, and his stories are downright funny. If anyone likes that sort of thing (think emo Henry Rollins) or wants to go stare at the object of a FOB song, or knows anything about the fight between him and Mr Wentz, go, please! because I'm jealous I cant

Hope Spain is treating you well
I'm disappointed you're house hunting in London though. Stay in Bristol where all the cool kids are!
