So uni still officially sucks, I am officially failing and my home university wont tell me what happens if i dont pass this year. Which obviously isnt giving me much hope...anyhow, i'm praying that my spanish really will improve (which the speaking part doesnt seem to be doing) and that will make my exams a whole lot easier..we shall see in 6 months time when my final exams start..for now i have to concentrate on the three i have coming up...so wish me luck!
We went out this week to Bar Nueve...or actually "The Nine Bar" is the real name, but ever since mine and rachaels disasterous torrent episode (which im pretty sure i wrote about in november...i must have done, it was amusing!) the bar has been renamed in our conciousness...oh..we found out where it really is, about 5 minutes walk from rach's flat..obviously..
bloody multimap
However, we got rather merry on cocktails and I established that it's not just my bar I have to clear up in, but any bar I'm in..there isnt really much to say about the night, we went out because we were worried about jordan and rach said she was feeling pretty depressed...turns out it was a good idea because jords really isnt doing to well being back here and so a night out speaking just english was a pretty good thing to do..as horrible as it sounds it makes me feel slightly better to know that i am not the only one having trouble and finding the spanish people unfriendly..
Then this weekend we convinced jordan to accompany me and rach to elda to visit sam, because we've been here 4 months now, over that actually, and we've never seen his town before...plus he lured us with a promise of the best mojitos in spain (alicante) and a decent night out spanish style (meaning a long dinner, staying out all night and getting the bus back at 9am to his little town)...elda-petrer is gorgeous, well i like it anyhow its more spanish that valencia in the way that it has tiny windy streets and old women sitting on the pavement who actually smile and say "Buenas!" when you walk past...It is a small town though, and we did get very stared at..we visited the old town, the castle and had good bocadillos in a teeny cafe with a teeny 1000 year old lady (seriously, she looked like she was older than the place) serving us
Alicante was good to start with, we had to get there early because the last bus was 7pm from elda, and this meant we had a lot of time to do things before it was really going out time, but it also did mean that we could have a real spanish botellon (drinking before going out) on alicante beach (where you could tell we were drunk because we started speaking spanish to each other voluntarily) we could find the mojito bar (its the smallest place ever! and covered from top to bottom in writing, honestly, everyone seems to just write on the walls) and have dinner in a really good tapas restaurant...thank you mum for taking me to alicante before last night the only bad thing was the club we ended up in, house music is not my scene, neither are a bunch of queens, i know the UK gay scene is pretty pretentious and overly camp...but this was 10 times worse..sam and rach both hated it (they wanted to go and see if they could find any nice gay men and women) and we have vowed to stop trying to go to gay clubs here because we always end up having a bad night...this must be one of those things you have to be told about to get to...the decent clubs i mean...anyhow we left there at 5:30 am because we'd had enough, spent two hours in subway and then watched the sun rise on the beach....only it was so freaking cold and we forgot how long it took to rise.....plus it was hazy so sam was disappointed as we didnt get the orange sun peeping over the horizon....nevermind, maybe next time...but i actually havent slept in about 48 hours now, and so im feeling a little....tired?
sadly i forgot my camera so those last pics arent mine, but i shal wait until rach and jordan put their camera pics up so i can get some better quality photos up here .
Oh and...important...I am back in england between the 5th and the 12th of Feb, i have to revise during the day so I cant do day dates but I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally want to see you bristol types, and anyone that happens to be visiting bristol..so please, get in touch!
